Homemade Thai Herb Sausages - Sai Oua ไส้อ่ัว

Yes! You’re reading it right! Sai Oua (ไส้อั่ว) is a herb sausage that is made in Chiang Mai, a popular tourist destination in Northern Thailand. Chiang Mai is located about 600 kilometres northwest of Bangkok and is the second largest city in Thailand.

If you ask Thai to name a dish that Chiang Mai is famous for, the answer will be Sai Oua. Sai Oua is a symbol of one of Chiang Mai’s most authentic Northern Thai foods.

Chiangmai also happens to be the birthplace of Rinda Suparatana of Rinda’s Thai Kitchen, the person who is introducing this tasty treat to Canada. Made of ground pork or chicken, fresh herbs and chilli paste, these homemade Sai Oua Herb Sausages are now being produced in Calgary, Alberta so you don’t have to go to Chiang Mai to taste and enjoy them.

Today we at Thai Herb Sausages bring you our very own traditional home made Chiangmai sausage. All the ingredients are fresh, and we import fresh herbs from Thailand if we cannot find fresh Thai herbs locally. We want to share the amazing taste of Chiang Mai Herb Sausages with you.

We produce 4 kinds of meaty high quality of Sausages using 100% Alberta pork and chicken and fresh pressed locally made Tofu.

With these herb sausages, we are offering four levels of heat or spiciness: level one is mildly hot, level two contains medium heat, and level three is very hot and level four with extra heat is for our customers who really like it HOT. Our sausages are guaranteed to brighten your taste buds.

The Northeastern sausages are flavourful but not spicy and they are very popular in the Northeastern part of Thailand.

These sausages are served “as is” or wrapped in green leave leaf lettuce with optional slices of fresh chilies, ginger, shallot, lemongrass and peanuts as desired. Add more herbs like mint, cilantro if you like. In Thailand, we serve these Northeastern sausages for appetizers.
